The next person on our list is someone who I would call one of the best lyricists in the game, and with that a flow that is so amazing, Moses couldn't split it! And with two new releases in 2012 Kidd Saturday earns the number 8 spot on our list!! With the delayed release of his second Mixtape, "T.L.A.", KiDD worked with our number 9 spot, DJ Grizzly, to make a mix of instrumentals that KiDD just goes nuts on, also know as "The Day After".(Available on Soundcloud) And Finally a few months later, the release of "T.L.A." was successful.(On Datpiff) By the time your through the first two songs, "As You Are" being one of my all time favorite songs, your made aware that the wait was well worth it! Starting the year with a Big show followed by a big mixtape release, DJ Grizzly earns the 9 spot on our list before most artists were even started! On January 28th DJ Grizzly took the stage at the Purple Haze Noise Fest 12, where he showed the ravers of Greenville, NC what its like to live on "The Other Side". Following that show he released "The Other Side" as a mixtape, and showed us folks that couldn't be there how awesome he really is! So with that release and "LOUD NOISES" Coming Later in the year, DJ Grizzly proves that he can play fair with all the genres and has serious skill behind him! Now teamed up with a couple other DJs to form the super group named Elephante, 2013 is looking just as good for The Grizz!! Although 2012 comes only 16 years after his birth day, Kid Logik lands at the number 10 spot on our Top 10 local artists of 2012!! With the successful release of his second mixtape "Endless Dreams" (Available on Datpiff) and the note worthy single "End of the World" off his Third Mixtape "Sunrise" (Out Early 2013 on Datpiff) released right before the new year, gets Logik a good handle on the game for 2012. Much is expected from Him in 2013 and I know we will all be waiting to see what comes next from this Rising Star!!

Louis The Engineer - Freewritten

Sunday at midnight, young Louis The Engineer released his third mixtape title "Freewritten". When I interviewed him about it earlier this year, he told me, "Right now I am working on a mixtape titled "Freewritted" where I'm just going to flow over some popular beats to help kick up some excitement around my name. I think it will be nice to get my name out there to some people who didn't know who I was before." And I believe he has and will continue to do this. I had the privilege to listen to this tape before it was released and I have to say I listen to it more than I thought I would, its just that good! He uses industry beats, so all of them you can jam hard to, and when it comes to lyricism, I haven't heard anything like it. Louis has a great grip on word play and he pieces it all together with an underlining meaning that every hard working kid can relate too. He also told me during that interview that he gets a lot of inspiration from the G.O.O.D. music group, and you can tell with how he shouts them out in a lot of songs, and he uses a good chunk of their beats.Louis also tweets a shout out to Kanye West everyday, now that's drive!
